Two-thirds of Americans believe in spirits and not just on Halloween

According to a Pew Research survey nearly two-thirds of Americans (68%) completely or mostly agree that angels and demons are active in the world. Only 14% disagree.

Besides Dan Brown, who is most likely to agree that angels and demons are forces in our world?

*  88% of Mormons
*  87% of evangelical Christians
*  87% of members of historically black churches

Who disagrees that spirits stalk our planet?

*  Jewish Americans are by far the most likely to disagree with 73% who disagree and 52% who completely disagree.
*  56% of Buddhists
*  55% of Hindus
*  54% of the religiously unaffiliated

The ancient Celts believed that All Hallow’s eve, the day before All Saints Day, unleashed spirits to roam the earth. The Celts wore masks and costumes to fool or ward off evil spirits. Trick-or-treaters may emulate that tradition, unleashing their costume creativity. Instead of appeasing the ghosts, trick-or-treaters only want adults to appease their sweet tooth with a bag of chocolate or sugary candy.
