Red Dragon - 2116 Lyndale S

Oh, Red Dragon, how I love your fruity bar drinks from the ‘Wonderous Punch’ to the ‘Molly Ringwald.’ And, I do savor your yummy Chinese vittles. You leave me hungry again in 30 minutes and suffering from a sugar-induced hangover, but I still come back for more.

Lurking inside the unassuming store front at 2116 Lyndale S is a dragon, indeed.  Red Dragon is a hipster mix of delicious Chinese food, big strong fruity drinks and some of the friendliest staff ever to take your order. No joke.

The menu is 100% ‘American’ Chinese food – the kind you’ve come to know and love. What makes the food even better is the fact that it’s served in this super cool bar. Most Chinese restaurants are lacking in the ‘ambiance/bar’ department so this is refreshing and it just feels right. After a few big fruity/boozy drinks, Chinese food is exactly what I want.

Let’s talk about those drinks for a second. Served up in a bulbous oversized snifter in every color of the rainbow – from the green Tokyo Tea to Purple Rain - - the drinks at Red  Dragon are one of a kind. Fruity, yes. Boozy, check. Cheap, sort of. The specialty drinks can range from $8-$11, but trust your Nightlife Examiner, its worth it.

Take the food, the drinks add in the one of the best juke boxes in the Twin Cities and a dash of eclectic locals and yer night is rockin’.

Red Dragon is a must for many reasons. Just in case you need another reason - - happy hour on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday is from 10:00-close and offers $3 domestic beers, wine and rails. That is almost enough for me to give up the fruity drinks. Almost.
