Crabs at Mickeys are heavy and fantastic.

Dear Kit,

We're heading back down to Fenwick Island this weekend and we're trying to figure out where to eat. Any suggestions?

Love, Patsy (aka your mother-in-law)

Dear Patsy,

Good question - it's actually one I recently put to Donna Cefaloni, of Cefaloni's Italian Deli (410-250-5696, 13711 Coastal Highway, Ocean City). I figured she, of anyone, would be able to recommend some great restaurants at the beach - and she did. Donna calls Nantuckets (800-362-DINE, Route 1, Fenwick Island) a favorite, both for its fine dining and its less fancy, but still fantastic, tap room menu. She also likes Mancini's (302-537-4224, 907 Coastal Highway, Fenwick) for Italian and Marlin Moon Grille (410-213-1618, 12806 Ocean Gateway, Ocean City) for its creative and eclectic menu.

I'll add a few spots to Donna's list. For crabs, I love Mickey's Crab House (302-539-5384, 222 Jefferson Bridge Road, Bethany Beach). On a recent trip, all you can eat crabs and corn was $38 per person and the crabs were fantastic. A little underseasoned for me, but that would probably make them just right for most people - and it's always easier to add seasoning than subtract it. The service is warm and friendly and the atmosphere is vintage family crab house. Mickey's only takes reservations for groups of nine or more, though, so if you're heading over on a weekend, prepare for a bit of a wait.

For a more upscale night out, it's hard to beat Bluecoast Seafood Grill (302-532-7111, 1111 Route 1, Bethany Beach). With a terrific drinks menu and seriously fresh, interesting seafood dishes - plus a great view - Bluecoast combines excellent dining with a laid back, beachy attitude. It's fun and fantastic.
