While recent reports indicate that H1N1 is unlikely to become a "superbug" as previously feared, studies indicate that the virus is more easily spread and causes more severe illnesses than other flu strains.
One in three people will eventually be infected with H1N1, according to a World Health Organization prediction. And, since "hardly anyone" is immune to this particular virus, more people than ever are expected to be infected this season.
Though vaccines are being developed, they won't be ready until October, says a report released last week by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Basic Prevention Tips
What if you have symptoms?
If you have flu-like symptoms, the CDC recommends that you stay home for at least 24 hours, or until the symptoms are relieved. Be sure to see your doctor if symptoms last longer than 24 hours. The CDC says that when your temperature remains normal without the use of medicine, you're no longer contagious.
