Nine year old Jayla Cooper married her seven year old sweetie, Jose Griggs, in a dream ceremony on Monday. The ceremony was held in North Texas and was paid for with donations from well wishers.

Why would any parent allow a nine year old to get married?

The new Mrs. Griggs was diagnosed with leukemia two years ago and has just weeks to live.

She met her groom at a children's medical center. He was also struggling with an illness, and Jayla helped him through it. According to his parents, he understands what is happening and knows she will be "going to a better place" soon.

The bride says of her husband, "He is very cute and I love him."

Jayla's mom Lisa said, "We didn't expect to do this when she was nine years old, but she has taught us all how to love each other and to be strong."

While the wedding was symbolic, WFAA TV reporter Monika Diaz says it  was a celebration of life and friendship.
