Recently dedicated historical markers
26 October: In Rock Hill, South Carolina a historical marker was dedicated to tell the story of St. Anne's Parochial School. It is at 648 South Jones, the site of the first school.
21 November: Barry in South Glamorgan, Wales has just launched its blue plaque scheme. Ten new blue plaques will honor Barry notables. The first was dedicated on November 21st.
25 November: In Tutwiler, Mississippi, a new Blues Trail historical marker was dedicated to honor W.C. Handy and Sonny Boy Williamson II. It can be found at Railroad Park.
26 November: On Baird Court, Station Road in Bexhill, East Sussex, the town's first blue plaque honors John Logie Baird, who researched the world's first color TV cathode ray.
Future historical markers
30 November: The site of Blur's first gig at the East Anglian Railway Museum, Essex will receive a blue plaque.
03 December: A blue plaque for Dire Straits' first performance will be dedicated at 11:30 am. Location: Farrer House, Church Lane, Deptford, London.
Other historical marker news
In India, monuments over a hundred years old are looked after by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). In Gujurat, the ASI is now planning to put up interpretive signs in three languages.
