Hundreds of people gathered at Frontier Park Friday for the final show in the free 2009 Olathe Summer Concert Series.
Liverpool, Kansas City's best Beatles tribute band, gave a show to write home about, playing all the favorite Fab Four songs.
Keeping things authentic, the musicians spoke with English accents and performed two costume changes, donning outfits that matched each era of Beatles music.
To capture the evening of fun, a photographer was positioned on a lift so she could take arial pictures of the enthusiastic crowd. At regular intervals, the Liverpool boys encouraged fans to give a big wave and shout-out for the camera.
For one final picture-perfect opportunity, the modern crowd pulled out cell phones and swayed with the lights lit up. “John Lennon” said it was just as good as lighters on any day.
Aside from being a free, fun event for the whole community to come together and enjoy, the concert series helped out a good cause.
The Salvation Army collected donations to help local families get back on their feet in these hard economic times.
All of the money from the sales of food and drinks went to fund next year's concerts in the park.
