Verizon wireless today launched the new Motorola Droid phone with Android 2.0. Their “iDon’t” ads have been hitting the media illustrating the advantages of the Droid over the iPhone. But one one advantage the new phone does not have is a price advantage, as the phone and service pricing is almost identical to that of the 16GB iPhone GS.
For $1179.26/year (with phone on a 2 year contract, excluding taxes) you get 450 minutes/month along with unlimited web and 5000 text messages (AT&T offers unlimited text messages for the same price – add $120/year for that feature on the Droid).
