These aren't the vacuum
cleaner people

Day 20 of the CES 30 days of innovation brings us the flip side of the consumer electronics show. It’s not just about cool gadgets and technology for consumers. It’s about helping sales people to reach you, and to reach the stores and distributers who are trying to reach you. By reach you, of course, I mean sell you stuff (whether you actually need it or not).

Hoovers is a business whose primary goal is to help those salespeople, by making available (at a hefty fee) research on over 28 million companies and 36 million people who work at those companies and make decisions for them. they also provide services and advice to help salespeople to reach those people more effectively (i.e., get through whatever roadblocks they put in their way so that those annoying sales calls will actually get through).

I’m sorry, did I say annoying? No… I mean, to allow those salespeople to “educate” decision makers who foolishly try to get work done without distractions. I’m sorry, did I say distraction? I mean.. excuse me for a moment, I’m getting a call… … … Ah, that was a salesperson trying to sell me something. Where was I? Oh, never mind….

Hoovers Mobile is a new application that makes it possible to for salespeople to access Hoover’s resources from their iPhone, Blackberry or other mobile device. If you are a salesperson, this is probably very exciting new for you. If you aren’t, I hope you found this look behind the scenes entertaining.

Ready to get one? You can't have one yet, but can pre-enroll on hoovers.com.
Countdown to CES.
