TurboTax and TaxCut
TurboTax and TaxCut continue to duke it out

Intuit announced that they will no longer be charging an additional $9.95 fee for printing additional returns. This fee, reported earlier in “TurboTax takes a wrong turn – will TaxCut become the #1 tax software” had led to a significant amount of customer resistance and expressed in feedback forums on Amazon.com and other sites.

TurboTax now allows you to e-file up to five federal tax returns at no added cost and print unlimited returns.

This matches TaxCut's recent decision to also offer up to five free federal e-files. Because TurboTax initially costs more than TaxCut, TaxCut maintains a price advantage, but it is much less than before. [Updated]

There are, of course, other factors to consider when selecting your tax software. Stay tuned for additional reports on this subject.

Meanwhile, kudos to Intuit for listening to their customers. And kudos to the many TurboTax customers for speaking up in their reviews on Amazon.com, blogs and other forums.
