Set a different wakeup time for each day

I hate alarm clocks. Let’s face it, most of the time the alarm is waking you up to something you don’t want to do. That’s why alarm clocks all have snooze buttons – because most of the time what you really want is to stay snug in your nice warm bed.

The only thing worse than an alarm clock, is one that insists on waking you up on a day when you can sleep in. Sure, it only happens when you forget to reset it the night before, but it’s easier to blame the alarm clock regardless.

If you have to have an alarm clock (as must of us do), you might want go for the American Innovations Neverlate Executive Alarm Clock. I won’t guarantee you’ll never be late – I still believe the innate human ability to go back to sleep is beyond the power of even the best alarm clock to overcome. But this one is a bit more annoying than most (the option to keep making the snooze period shorter and shorter is devious in the extreme).

But what makes this clock almost tolerable is its ability to set up a complete 7 day schedule. So you can let it know ahead of time that you get to sleep in on weekends and never have to worry resetting the clock on Friday evening. In fact, you can set a different schedule for every day of the week – ideal for college students who may need to wake up at 10am on some days, noon on others, and not at all on weekends.

In fact it has three separate seven day schedules you can program in: an extra if you’re sharing an alarm, plus one for daily reminders. You can change not only the wakeup time each day, but whether you want to wake up to an alarm or radio (and if radio, which station). You can set the backlight brightness, alarm duration and other options.

It’s not the greatest gadget in the world – no alarm clock could possibly qualify on that score. But if you must have an alarm clock, this one is worth a look.
