Gist II is a human rights attorney and adjunct professor of legal studies, having earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence (Cum Laude) from Gonzaga University School of Law and currently studying international humanitarian law at Harvard University's Program on Humanitarian Policy and Conflict Research.
