The following is a summary of the ratings awarded by the MPAA to films, which are currently in theaters and those soon to be released. Along with the rating given to the film there is also a brief statement provided by the MPAA for its rational.

Reason: “For nudity and brief strong language.”

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra – PG-13
Reason: “For strong sequences of action violence and mayhem throughout.”

Julie & Julia – PG-13
Reason: “For brief strong language and some sexuality.”

Perfect Heart – PG-13
Reason: “For strong language”

A Perfect Getaway – R
Reason: “For graphic violence, language including sexual references and some drug use.”

Reason: No objectionable material, for all audiences.

Shorts – PG
Reason: “For mild action and some rude humor.”

District 9 – R
Reason: “For bloody violence and pervasive language.”

Taking Woodstock –R
Reason: For graphic nudity, some sexual content, drug use and language.”

 

Ratings key:

G – general audiences

PG – parental guidance suggested

PG-13 – parents strongly cautioned

R  - restricted (those under 17 must be accompanied by an adult)

NC-17 – no one 17 and under admitted
