Several news agencies have correctly reported that the latest film starting comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, Bruno (2009), has been banned in Ukraine.

According to the press release issued by the Ukraine Film Office, The Ukrainian Culture and Tourism Ministry have banned the film after nine members of a viewing commission out of fourteen, voted to ban the film. Bruno had been scheduled to be released into Ukrainian cinemas on July 23rd. The commission found the film to contain “artistically unjustified exhibition of sexual organs and sexual relations, homosexual acts in a blatantly graphic form, obscene language, sadism, anti-social behavior which could damage the moral upbringing of our citizen.”

Cohen’s previous mockumentary Borat (2006) had also been banned from cinemas in Ukraine upon its release.
