A Dead Milkman, an A.A. performance, the Raygun, Dirty Three, and Living Colour this week in Boston.

One good thing about the end of summer is that it usually brings good bands to Boston. And this week is loaded with shows by good bands.
Tonight, Monday 9/7, Joe Jack Talcum of the Dead Milkmen is at the Middle East. If you remember the Dead Milkmen's classic early 90's MTV hit song "Punk Rock Girl," then you've heard Joe Jack's endearingly warbly singing voice and silly, snarky sense of humor. 18+. $9.
Tuesday, 9/8, former Verbena frontman A.A. Bondy is at Great Scott in Allston. If you like Ryan Adams-esque folk Americana, you need to have A.A. Bondy alphabetically atop your iTunes. Also on the bill is Martha's Vineyard's writer/songsinger Willy Mason, who has a bigger following in Europe than in his own state. Mike Fiore from Faces on Film opens the show. 18+ 9pm $10 adv. / $12 door.
The following night, 09/09/09, Chicago punk legends Naked Raygun are opening their first east coast tour in a decade and a half at the Middle East downstairs. 18+ $15.
On Thursday, Australian violin/guitar/drums instrumental wizards The Dirty Three will perform their authentic celestial music at the ICA on the waterfront. Expect to be taken away to vast oceans of dynamic sound, with no words, just emotion.
The band formed by Parker Mangham of Parker and Lily, the Low Lows, opens. Their mournful dissonance has been compared to Sparklehorse and My Morning Jacket. 7:30 pm. $25 general admission; $20 ICA and World Music/CRASHarts members.
Also on Thursday, 80's hard rock legends Living Colour are at Johnny D's in Somerville. Their classic lineup of guitarist Vernon Reid, vocalist Corey Glover, bassist Doug Wimbish and drummer Will Clahoun are back together and on tour to support "The Chair in the Doorway," their first release in six years (and only their fifth album in their 20 year career.)
