Chicago's influential country-punk label Bloodshot Records is celebrating their 15th anniversary by presenting "Beer-B-Qs" in a few select cities, including Boston this Sunday at the Middle East. Headlining our local Beer-B-Q is British rock legend Graham Parker. A favorite of rock critics for almost 40 years, Paker is acclaimed as one of the great power pop songwriters of all time.
Also performing will be:
A mysterious "very special surprise guest" is also mentioned on the bill. No idea who that might be, but other Bloodshot Beer-B-Qs around the country are featuring some excellent Bloodhsot artists as the Bottle Rockets, Justin Townes Earle, the Waco Brothers, the Scotland Yard Gospel Choir, Robbie Fulks, Jon Langford and Sally Timms, and Scott H. Biram. Who knows if one ofthem will appear, or if it will be someone completely unexpected.
If a great bill of alt-country rock isn't enough, the first 150 people there will get free food, presumably barbecue-style.
It costs only 5 measly American dollars to get in. Doors at 4 PM, music starts at 5. 21+, at the Middle East Downstairs this Sunday August 30.
