The 2009 Orlando Film Festival is almost here. Taking place November 4th - 8th, this year's event will be at the Plaza Cinema Cafe in the heart of Orlando.
Featuring films from all over the world, here is a list of some to keep an eye out for:
ScareZone- Filmed here in Orlando at Universal Studios, this horror film is about a group of people that work in a haunted attraction. Soon a killer is on the loose in the building and starts knocking them off, one by one. The filmmakers used the sets from Universal's Halloween Horror Nights' maze, Body Collectors.
My Sweet Misery- This film mixes dark comedy and character driven drama about a man who is haunted by his past. He tries to deal with it while his sociopathic brother, and two women step into the picture. This stars Anna Chlumsky who starred in My Girl.
The Secret of Oz- A documentary about the U.S. economy and the parallels to Frank L. Baum's The Wizard of Oz. Trying to find the answer and not just discuss the problems with the economy, this seems to be a great documentary to spark a debate.
Stuck Like Chuck- They say this is a, "Romantic comedy about friendship, love, college and the awkward situations that bring them all together".
In 500 Words or Less- A documentary about four teenagers writing that feared personal essay for acceptance into college. They learn about themselves and what they want to be while trying to figure out how to get it down on paper.

There are plenty more films and even short films made by students at this year's event. A great thing about the Orlando Film Festival, is it is completely free to attend and see the films. You may need to get there early to be able to see some of them, but it can be at no cost! If you want to see everything you want without worrying about being turned away, they do have VIP passes available still for $100 that guarantees you access to the screenings you want, celebrity parties and panels, as well as the VIP Celebrity Gift Bag that is the same bag given to celebrities, directors and producers who come to the festival. It's value alone can be more than $100.
Be sure to stay tuned for more previews of films from the festival!
