Winner of best picture at the 79th Academy Awards, The Departed was directed by none other than Martin Scorsese.

This depiction of police corruption was made into an amazingly dark and wonderful film through creative editing and colorful characters.  Set in the Irish neighborhoods of Boston, The Departed shows the two lives of a corrupt cop and an undercover cop.  Based on the premises of being a "rat", each character is special in their own right.  With great actors such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Wahlberg, Jack Nicholson and Matt Damon, this story captures the psychotic unrest of an undercover cop in the attempt to sniff out the "rat" before he, himself, becomes the next target.  Based on the Japanese film, Infernal Affairs, The Departed is Martin Scorsese's culmination of every movie he ever made.  Read more.
