The Classical Academy announced on Friday that Peter Hilts has accepted a new position of Director of Strategic Programs. Peter is TCA's High School Principal and has led the high school to recognition for academic, athletic and character accomplishments.
The new position includes responsibility for TCA's new secondary school, College Pathways. In addition, Hilts will be responsible for the cottage school, The Classical Institute (TCA's enrichments courses), and Great Starts Sports Camps. His charge will be to maximize these programs and oversee their development and alignment with the school's mission.
In an interview with Mark Hyatt, TCA's President, and Hilts, Mr. Hilts told me, "I'm very excited about this new position and how it will benefit TCA and position TCA for the future. TCA has always tried to innovate within its mission of developing high quality citizens." He also added, "The new programs stretch us as well as the current educational system to reach people in new ways that meet their needs."
Mr. Hyatt said, "This role is ideal for Peter. Peter is an innovator as well as a strategist. He has developed our high school into an award winning program. I anticipate great things from him in this new role."
TCA will begin the search for a nationwide search for a new principal. There is a large hole to fill as Hilts will begin this position full time at the end of the first semester. Hugh DiPretore, TCA's vice-principal will fill the interim principal role until a permanent successor is chosen.
