T-Pain spoke to Ed Lover on the Ed Lover Show this morning about his stunt in Vegas that found him speaking reckless about Jay-Z and his track “D.O.A.”
In the interview T-Pain said following the release of “D.O.A.”, he went looking to see if Jay-Z would mention that he was aiming the song at every other artist that uses auto-tunes with the exception of him.
Of course, T-Pain feels he is the individual largely responsible for popularizing the vocal effect again and was looking for an exemption from Jay-Z. He also admitted that it would be “stupid” for an artist of his caliber to call out Jay-Z, but that he would be interested in staging a sales competition with Jay similar to that of the publicized competition between Kanye West and 50 Cent. T-Pain was quoted as saying,
I'm lookin' to see, if maybe in the interviews, [Jay-Z will admit] that he's not talkin' about me. I'm not goin' crazy [with this at the time]...Every time [he was asked in interviews] if he was talkin' about T-Pain, he'd say, 'T-Pain is a talented dude.'" "I will say that what he said yesterday morning made me feel so much better...he's an icon. I'm trying to be where he's at.
Me going at Jay-Z...I could've been real stupid: I could have been one of these stupid artists [that disses Jay-Z]. He would have just [destroyed] me. My dad always told me that the best way to get somebody to get at you is to talk bad about them to somebody else.

T-Pain told Ed Lover that he has been trying to get in contact with Jay-Z for what would seem like months but to no avail; this may explain the tantrum he threw.
The T-Pain and Jay-Z drama reemerged over the weekend, when T-Pain was caught expressing his true feelings about Jay-Z’s track “D.O.A.” while Dj’ing in Vegas at a pool party. The rant would have gone unnoticed, but thanks to artists that were in attendance--one of which being Fabolous--the public was able to get clued in to how T-Pain really felt.
When the song originally made its debut as a “street single” on Hot 97 earlier this summer, it caused a rift in the musical formula many Hip-Hop artists began duplicating for their own personal success. Some brushed the song off while others took it to heart. Obviously, Jay-Z has far more pull then many thought, because emotions are running wild just off of a song and its message from a guy they have deemed to be “too old” to rap.
