Hip-Hop has been crushed by the sudden passing of Michael Jackson and are looking to remember him in a major way. Record labels like Sony and Epic and music organizations like the RIAA and BMI have released statements showing respect and mouring the death of an icon.
As mentioned in a previous article, a lot of Hip-Hop artists in music's past have been heavily influenced by Michael's stage presence and most importantly his music. You can expect more artists to pay tribute to Michael in the form of a song in the coming days.
The very first of many comes from West Coast rapper The Game who has been M.I.A. from the start of the year. He also takes the liberty of officially squashing his on going beef with 50 Cent by proclaiming that it is officially dead. The Game decided to get a little help from producer Polow Da Don, singers Chris Brown, Usher, and Boys II Men, and of course music mogul Diddy to bring the song home and to put forth a message that Michael will never be forgotten.
The track that was produced by DJ Khalid is a song that really pours out the passion and emotion of how big of an impact Michael has had on music and the artists that we see today. The perfect example of life imitating art.
Speaking of Chris Brown, the singer that has been heavily influenced and said to be in line to pick up where Michael left off, earlier today released a statement regarding the passing of Michael saying that Michael is the reason why he is an entertainer today.
Michael Jackson is the reason why I do music and why I am an entertainer. I am devastated by this great loss, and I will continue to be humbled and inspired by his legacy. My prayers are with his family. Michael will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. He's the greatest… the best ever. No one will ever be better.
