I get to rhyme like Jay-Z for one night! Yipee!!

Picture this; Brooklyn, NY 1993, my two friends and I are hanging out on my stoop in Bed-Stuy chewing on David sunflower seeds brainstorming on possible group names for our rap trio. Along with that we are debating on whether it would be best to have a DJ or a live band as our hip hop maestro; what imaginations we had! Ah yes, those were the good ol’ days.

So imagine how excited I was to hear that I could actually make my female rap tress dream come true. Granted its 16 years later, it still lives on within. I can rap my favorite songs in front of a live crowd without the need to sign a record deal, hire a manager, or write my own song, and so can you!

It’s called Hip Hop Karaoke and it is your chance to rhyme like a hip hop pro. They provide the DJ, the music, the crowd, and if you want, they can even give you your very own hype man; yes, it is that serious.

It all goes down Friday, February 20, 2009. Sign up starts at 9:30 PM and the performances start at 10:30 PM. See below for more details.
