Say what you will about the term alt-country. For the most part, it is used by radio and record labels to describe bands that put a little twang in their rock and roll.
Son Volt was, for better or worse, probably one of the first bands to be slapped with that particular label. This is a band that definitely infuses a healthy dose of country into its songs.
