What kind of world has it become where we coddle the wicked and punish the innocent? Consider
the slaps on the wrist given to convicted child rapists by Judges John Connor (left) of Ohio and John Torrence (see embedded video) of Missouri. In the case heard by the former, Andrew Salva, 46 plead guilty to molesting two boys ages 5 and 12 over a three year period. In the latter Jerrod Elwood, 39 was convicted of sodomizing and molesting a young girl from the time she was 6 until she was 15. In both cases the prosecution sought significant incarceration time in state penitentiary and in both cases the judges sentenced the convicts to PROBATION!
The history of American jurisprudence is rife with examples of gross miscarriages of justice, but in these instances the miscarriages were more like late term abortions. And while the United States does in fact have the best judicial system in the world, the outcome of every case isn't always just. Often times circumstances prohibit suitable consummation; murderers are let off on technicalities, witnesses have selective memory issues, and the like. However, more often than not, everything coheres right up until the end. The real tragedy in the aforementioned trials is that everyone did their job and still the liberal judges dropped the ball. Even more heartbreaking is the fact that such outcomes are so profoundly avoidable.
Judge Connors was eventually vindicated when Ohio Attorney General Jim Petro investigated but decided not to impeach. It seems the tender mercies of injustice have no limit. Action against Judge Torrence, the travesty of Jerrod Elwood’s sentence being much more recent, is pending. Torrence received additional notoriety when Jesse Watters of the O’Reilly Factor attempted to interview him at a McDonald’s restaurant after it had become apparent the judge had no intention of talking with the show otherwise.
One might reasonably conclude that certain individuals within the system do not take these matters seriously. Has it escaped anyone’s attention who is being taken seriously for his "violent offense"? Six year old Zachary Christie of Newark, Delaware. His crime? Taking a camping utensil which
serves as knife, fork and spoon to school. Apparently Zach was very excited about recently joining a Cub Scouts troop and wanted to use it during lunch. As a result school officials immediately suspended him and additionally he faces 45 days in reform school. 45 days! Cleveland Brown receiver Donte Stallworth served less time and he killed an innocent pedestrian in a drunken driving incident!
Before the liberals who perpetually seek to subvert the views of this column get their drawers in too much of a bunch, we must of course acknowledge that these are all vastly different scenarios and not specifically parallel with one another. What are worthy of comparison however are the basic principles of applied justice and one can hardly help but be very concerned on that level.

Until next time...
