Three of Bungie's major team members, particularly in the Halo franchise, have formed an all new studio called Moonshot Games. Formed by Michael Bastien, producer of Halo PC and the subsequent sequels, Damián Isla, the AI and Gameplay Engineering lead for Halo 2 and 3, and Rob Stokes, writer and designer for Halo 3, the studio's primarily goal is to bring great talent to downloadable games with a modest budget.
The studio currently has a headquarters in Seattle, Washington as well as Boston, Massachussetts. The idea is for them to attract big talent from both costs to develop smaller and cheaper games with the sort of attitude and talent applied to the more expensive retail games.
This is not the first time a member of Bungie left to form a new studio. In 2003 Alex Seropian, co-founder of Bungie and the head of Halo: Combat Evolved had left to form Wideload Games, developer of Stubbs the Zombie. A similar desire to develop quality games on a smaller budget was the concept behind the studio.
Aside from the announcement of the new studio at 7a.m. on October 7th, following the popular obsession Bungie Studios held with the number, no further information is available on projects or company goals.
