Don’t Miss Out on the Amazing Deals! I recently read an article where a financially cautious woman took money out of savings and started purchasing televisions, vacations, computers, . . .When asked why, in these financially fragile times she was spending freely, she pointed out that her portfolio value diminished by about 40% and will eventually grow. Today’s markets are offering 50 %to 80% discounts on items and services you will eventually buy anyway. Ultimately it was a bigger return on her investment. I admit, math is a weak spot for me, but her theory sounds plausible. Travel is the investment that gives back more than most purchases. A lifetime of memories, new friends met along the way and family bonding which is difficult to accomplish in the midst of all of our normal day to day activities are some of the many benefits that remain. With me, travel is a priority because it gives my family and I the most joy and remains in our hearts and memories forever. I don’t remember what items I bought 5 years ago but I can speak, in detail, about a trip I experienced 25 years ago. I still remember childhood trips; they were my favorite times. As a travel agent I constantly get streams of travel deals flowing across my desk. I’m seeing more great deals than I can remember ever seeing before. They’re ripe for the taking. Imagine . . .luxury cruises are selling for the same rates usually seen on moderate cruises. In general cruising is a wonderful luxury but those deluxe cruise lines pamper you more than you can possibly imagine. They leave guests walking on air for months beyond the trip. Airfares to Europe for travel until early April are starting at around $350 roundtrip plus taxes and fees. Unbelievable! On Disney Cruise Line, which is fabulous for traveling with younger children, kids 12 and under cruise FREE this winter and spring. Whenever I see these great prices I am compelled to spread the word to family, friends and clients. Soon we’ll be seeing those income tax refunds. Hopefully, anyway. President Obama is encouraging tax break to spur the economy. To help the economy we must spend that money. With me, given the choice between a new vacuum or a trip, I’ll take the trip every time. I have priorities like everyone else; I won’t have my children wear ragged clothes so I can head to Vegas. But, when the necessities are out of the way, we head out.
