During these difficult times many are reevaluating what is truly important to them. Being something of a free spirit I’ve always known I need a challenging, enjoyable job, time with family and friends, and the ability to travel.

Initially purchases give us pleasure but fade quickly. I don’t enjoy shopping yet I accumulate items that I don’t recall ever purchasing.
I travel; perhaps more than the average person. Those who hear about my trips either relate to it as travelers themselves or they proclaim that they love to travel but can’t afford it.
I have an internal chuckle at many of these proclamations since those who can’t afford to travel oftentimes have several gigantic television sets, the newest electronics, a yearly new car, constantly updated furniture, expensive clothes, quality jewelry, weekly gardeners, fulltime housekeepers, and many other things that cost a lot of money.
My house is okay, but nothing fancy. I shop at discount stores that sell designer clothes. My television is an unremarkable 22 inches, my stereo works well even at 25 years old, I clean my own house and mow my own grass.
I choose to do without those goodies and, instead I travel with my children and friends.
It’s a gift that tightens our bonds and lasts through a lifetime of memories.
