Shawn Tucker, President & Co-owner of Brentwood Center of Health

Come to discover "Tai Chi for Health", a graceful, low-impact exercise system that is easy to learn and a joy to practice - regardless of your age or physical ability.

R. Shawn Tucker, a physical therapist and Taichi (Tai Chi, Taiji) instructor for beginners, will introduce this ancient movement exercise that has long been praised for its various health benefits.

He will give an overview of research studies conducted at Harvard, Tufts, Rochester and other universities that proved Taichi to be helpful in treating such medical conditions as arthritis, low bone density, hypertension, heart disease, stroke and breast cancer (when combined with standard treatment). Taichi is also known for its role in preventing many body aches, improving balance, lowering blood pressure, boosting immune system and reducing stress.

This public event is hosted by Brentwood Center of Health and the Chinese Internal Arts Center. It is totally free for anyone who is interested in learning the benefits of Taichi and trying out the routine.

You will learn some basic, Taichi movements. Try and feel what it's like to be revitalized by these gentle exercises, where each movement flows into the next. Taichi has been practiced as "movement meditation" and it is a very important part of Mind-Body medicine. 

It will take place at 7:00 - 8:30 pm on Wednesday Oct 14 at the beautiful Brentwood Center of Health (2558 S. Brentwood Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63144).
