Online poker week in review: ‘durrr’ challenge heats up and poker bot talk
‘durrr’ challenge
Patrik Antonius and Tom ‘durrr’ Dwan managed to whack out 4,500 hands in their ongoing ‘Challenge Match’. This is a considerable amount of hands –the two had played only 16,000 since the challenge began in February—when you consider the WSOP is in full swing.
Antonius who has maintained a mid-six-figure lead for some time took the worst of it, and Dwan is not out in front. The two players have now shoved over $158 million into the pot!
A Poker Bot friendly site???
In one of the stranger stories I’ve seen in quite some time;
pokerbotbasics.com is offering online poker sites $10,000 for the most poker bot friendly site. Someone might want to tell Rob Turner –owner of pokerbotbasics—that online sites wouldn’t consider this an award, and in fact their business would suffer from winning the dubious distinction.
Turner sees it differently: "Pokerbots play hands faster, stay at tables longer, and can play at more tables at one time. This contest will not only allow pokerbots to sit at a table like everyone else, but will give players who have wanted to knowingly play against a pokerbot the chance they've been looking for. This is going to be a big win for participating poker sites." Turner feels a poker bot friendly site would allow the bot to declare itself, and then compete against the other players?!?!?!
Turner feels ‘bots’ are an emerging market that sites should cater to. 99% of players feel ‘bots’ are illegal, and what nothing to do with them; even if current bot technology makes their quality of play extremely low.
