NarniaWeb.com reported Tuesday that the filming of “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” has come to an end at Cleveland Point. The ship itself will be dismantled today.
A user on the site said she went to visit the set but “everything was gone, just trucks to cart away the gear.” She went around the local shops to see if there was any more filming going on, but didn’t find anything.
It was good filming wrapped up then because a rare dust storm hit the Cleveland Point area Wednesday. The Bayside Bulletin reported, “At Cleveland Point, the Dawn Treader on the Narnia set was devoid of its brilliant colors and the bay itself was visible for little more than 100 meters; the thick wall of dust that robbed us of the usual panoramic views made the world seem to end just off shore.”
What will be the fate of the gorgeous ship?
GoldCoast.com.au reported that it will be stripped down and shipped to the Gold Coast to be reassembled and used for blue screen filming.
After that?
“That’s the million-dollar question,” said Ernie Mahlik, the film's media coordinator. “I’ll say one thing: it won’t be scrapped.”
That’s good to hear. It would be a shame to see that beautiful ship be scrapped, especially after crews spent two months building it.
Filming is officially half-done and is expected to be completed in November.
