The busy Lawrenceburg exit off I-275 in Indiana was buzzing with American flags, protest signs, and the friendly waves of Tea Partiers and 9/12ers on Thursday.  In some ways, it was almost like an instant replay of yesterday in that drivers honked, grinned and gave a thumbs-up, only it seemed that people’s enthusiastic support had increased.  www.fox19.com  offered generous coverage yesterday which helped get the message out about, “We surround congress.”

Though the democrats may have the majority in congress overall, Tea Partiers and 9/12ers believe that their phone calls, peaceful protests, and peaceful demonstrations will not only influence moderate democrats who are up for reelection, but it will also encourage conservatives everywhere and ignite their enthusiasm.  And it seems to be working.

One Tea Partier told Examiner.com that, “Yesterday two people stopped and asked us what we were about, and so we explained.  Then they began to stand with us and protest.”

Another Tea Partier stated that, “the Tea Party has brought our community together.”  She went on to mention that their group has really been rallying around a conservative candidate for congress named Travis Hankins, who has a grassroots campaign.  He and his campaign volunteers often go door to door in an effort to explain who he is, what he’s about, and to get to know the people in the community.  His web address is www.travishankins.com

A World War II Veteran (and Tea Partier) at today’s event said, “We just need to stand up and take back our country.”  And He’s right.  In a Kentucky town hall meeting on October 10th, Congressman Geoff Davis stated that, “In 2006, 61 percent of self-identified Christian conservatives, Catholic and Protestant, stayed home.  In 2008 during the presidential election, 55 percent stayed home.”  Truly every vote counts.  And 2010 will be crucial, but 2012 may be this country’s final chance for ever being restored and moving back in the direction of conservatism.
