There are 30,000 expected participants for the Marine Corps Marathon to be held in Washington DC this Sunday, October 25, 2009. The marathon course is 26.2 miles but there will also be 10K race for registered runners with a shorter 6.2 mile course. Registration opened back in April and the limited 30,000 slots were filled quickly.

Additional Events

Aside from the race, there will be plenty of weekend events for all participants and spectators to enjoy. Festivities include a three-day Health and Fitness Expo at the DC Armory, the Healthy Kids Fun Run, Crystal Run (a festival in Crystal City), and the Marine Corps Marathon Finish Festival.

Course Map

If you are participating in the event as a runner or a spectator, familiarize yourself with the course map and with the Metro Rail System to avoid any issues with transportation and losing your way in the event, as the area will be crowded. There will be informational tents on-course support for all participants.
