The 2009 Montgomery County Department of Recreation High School Summer Basketball League regular season ends this week, giving way to the playoff tournament set to begin Monday, July 13^th. The League final is set for Thursday, July 13, 2009.

League Director Brad Roos has once again engineered a great summer program, organizing 33 teams from around Montgomery and Frederick counties, in addition to independents from around the Washington area, into four competitive divisions: Potomac, Chesapeake, Liberty and Patriot. The six-week season began the week of June 2^nd, with each team completing a 10-game schedule.

While a list of final standings will not be posted until the end of the week, first and second place finishers and seeds from each division are in:

 In addition to county schools listed above, Montgomery County High School teams from Sherwood, Rockville, Clarksburg, Magruder, Whitman, and Richard Montgomery are in the year-ending tournament, all with a chance at advancing towards the final game.

Anyone looking to attend the tournament needs to look no further than Magruder High School in Rockville, where all the games will be played. First round play begins Monday, July 13^th and Tuesday, July 14^th with the schedule as follows:

 Monday July 13^th

5:30 pm            St. Johns             vs            Jewish Day School

6:40 pm            Warriors Blue     vs             Whitman

7:50 pm            Big M                   vs             River Hill

9:00 pm            PAP                     vs             Rocket Pride

Tuesday July 14^th

5:30 pm            Northwood            vs            Gaithersburg

6:40 pm            Quince Orchard   vs             TBD

7:50 pm            Rockville               vs            Clarksburg

9:00 pm            TBD                        vs            Urbana                       

 The tournament continues with four quarterfinal games on July 20^th beginning at 5:30 pm, two semifinal games on July 21 beginning at 6:30 pm, and the final game on July 13^th at 8:00 pm. All games are free to the public.
