A new iPhone application was created by Julie Schneider, who has been living with Celiac Disease for the last nine years. One of her biggest passions in life is traveling.  Ms. Schneider created this application  to assist the gluten-free traveler locate restaurants, bakeries, grocery stores, and specialty stores in major cities.

The first application created by Ms. Schneider is for New York City and is on sale now for $3.99!  Listed on the application are 15 restaurants that have a dedicated gluten-free menu and more than 40 restaurants that can accommodate gluten-free diners.  Menu details and ordering information are provided for each restaurant, so in essence you have the menu in front of you before you've even stepped foot into the restaurant.  What's also nice is every restaurant listed also serves "regular" food so you can hand your iPhone over to your family/friends and let them choose where they would like to eat!

While this application was designed for the iPhone, Ms. Schneider is considering formatting it for the Balckberry.  If you own a Blackberry, as I do, please email Ms. Schneider and let her know if you would purchase and download this application.

An Atlanta version of this application will be coming soon.  The gluten-free restaurant listings created by the Atlanta Metro Celiacs have been forwarded to Ms. Schneider to help her get started.

Also, if anyone would like the information but does not have an iPhone, printed copies are available for sale on their website.  This application can be purchased on iTunes and on their website.
