Broadway Bares

Broadways's hottest night is headed our way. Chorographed by broadway heavy weight Jerry Mitchell and benefitting Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS. With TWO SHOWS ONLY, Sunday, June 21 (9:30 PM & MIDNIGHT) at Roseland Ballroom 239 West 52nd Street). This year director Peter Gregus and a very revealing dancer Joshua Horner (Billy Elliott The Musical) are at the center of this mainstay.

Obie and Lucille Lortel Award winner David Cromer returns to the central role of ‘Stage Manager’ in his critically-acclaimed staging of Thornton Wilder’s timeless play Our Town on Friday 6/19 (to honor a prior commitment, Mr. Comer departed the company May 1st for a 5-week hiatus). Scott Parkinson, who assumed the role during his absence, gives his final performance June 18th. Mr. Cromer will continue in the role through August 16th and will make his Broadway directorial debut when rehearsals begin for the Broadway revival productions of Neil Simon’s Brighton Beach Memoirs and Broadway Bound.

GOD OF CARNAGE will mark its 100th performance on Broadway at the Jacobs Theatre tonight, Wednesday, June 17. Recently awarded three Tony Awards, including Best Play, Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play (Marcia Gay Harden), and Best Direction of a Play (Matthew Warchus).  GOD OF CARNAGE was also recently honored with the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy. Since opening, GOD OF CARNAGE has become New York’s hottest play.  In recent weeks celebrities such as Julia Roberts, Leonardo DiCaprio, Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, Reese Witherspoon, Jake Gyllenhaal, Whoopi Goldberg, Megan Mullally, Mary Tyler Moore, Rosie Perez, Melissa Gilbert, Sigourney Weaver, Matt Stone, Trey Parker, Stephen Colbert, T.R. Knight, Ryan Reynolds, Cynthia Nixon, Anne Hathaway, Bob Balaban, James Lipton, Q-Tip, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Johnny Galecki, Rachel Dratch, Carla Gugino, Gloria Steinem, Tiffani Thiessen, Patti LuPone, Marc Anthony, Andie MacDowell, Jerry Herman, Aida Turturro, Jeff Goldblum, and Maura Tierney have all been spotted in the Jacobs Theatre audience. God of carnage stars Jeff Daniels, Hope Davis, James Gandolfini and Marcia Gay Harden.
