Dr. Kathryn J. Kotrla, associate dean and professor of psychiatry of the Texas A & M Health Sciences Center in Round Rock, has asked me to post the link to the Texas Veterans' website, http://www.texvet.com,  that is set to assist Texas veterans and their families.  It has just been updated with information on how to get and give  the Ft. Hood shooting victims and their families assistance.  It has links to places to obtain counseling services.  It has a list of local providers for anyone in Williamson County affected by the tragedy, as well as those in the Killeen area.

Additionally, the site has infomation about a fund set up to financially help the victims and their families.  http://www.operationhomefront.net through the non-profit Operation Home Front. This organization's mission is "supporting our troops and helping those left behind."  According to their site," Operation Homefront has established an "Emergency Tragedy Fund" for the families of the injured and deceased Soldiers at Ft. Hood. We are saddened by this tragedy and will provide emergency financial assistance to the families. If you are a family directly affected, please contact Operation Homefront Texas at 1-800-779-5921 . If you would like to donate to this Fund, send donations to: Operation Homefront Texas, 10157 IH 35 North, Suite A, San Antonio, Texas 78233. 100% of the funds collected will be designated for the families at Ft. Hood. Thank you for your generosity and support. "

Thanks to Dr. Kotrla sharing this information. She and I serve together on the county's Mental Health Task Force and she is a great asset to our community.
