In other county news, after interviewing several candidates, the Williamson County Commissioner’s Court recently hired Lisa Zirkle to be the county’s Human Resources Director. Mrs. Zirkle served as the Interim Director since July when long-time director, John Willingham, retired to move to Idaho with his wife, Wendy. Mrs. Zirkle, a resident of Florence, has worked for the county for over 13 years, spending most of that time overseeing the county’s health benefits plan. Currently, Williamson County employs about 1500 folks, with the largest amount working for the Sheriff’s Office in either corrections or patrol. Mrs. Zirkle is a graduate of the University of Texas and has been married to her husband, Don, for thirty years.
While serving as Interim Director, Mrs. Zirkle instituted some innovations to the HR department. Soon, all employment applications will be made online. This will streamline the process and also provide a better way for applicants and supervisors to track the progress of the applications. Additionally, she has proposed a realignment of the department personnel for better efficiency and less cost.
I have worked with Mrs. Zirkle on the county’s Health Benefits Committee for over five years and have always found her to be professional and a hard worker.
