Five charged in connection with plot to obtain anti-aircraft missiles

The US Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania announced today that it had filed charges against five men - Dani Nemr Tarraf, Douri Nemr Tarraf, Hassan Mohamad Komeiha, Hussein Ali Asfour and Ali Fadel Yahfoufi - for a scheme to obtain anti-aircraft missiles and machine guns in Philadelphia.

The complaint that was filed by prosecutors alleged that in June 2009, Dani Nemr Tarraf met with  an undercover law enforcement officer,seeking to purchase the missiles along with "commando" machine guns. On July 28, 2009,, Tarraf purportedly paid the undercover agent $20,00 as a deposit toward the cost of Stinger missiles and Colt M4 Carbines to be shipped outside of the United States.

The men were also charged with possession of stolen property which they allegedly purchased from the undercover agent - laptops, cell phones, Sony Playstations and automobiles. 

The case was investigated by the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force,  The New Jersey State Police, the Philadelphia Police Department, the Pennsylvania State Police  and the Department of State, among others.
