Chatttanooga police get their man . . . just a little late.

Great news! Chattanooga police have solved the Dec. 11, 2008 drive-by murder off Roy Sturdivant, 20. They know who fatally shot him in the driveway outside his home.

Cornelius Williams did it, police say.

A bullet taken from Sturdivant’s body matched a gun later used by Williams in another incident.

By the time police matched the bullet and checked witnesses' statements, however, Williams was dead, too. He became a murder victim himself, shot early last January and dying a month later.

Technically, I suppose, Williams is innocent, assuming we’re all still following the “innocent until proven guilty” rules. It’s a good thing you can’t libel the dead.
