Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning actor and novelist William Shatner will appear at Dragon*Con 2009, held in downtown Atlanta, GA, over Labor Day weekend (Sept. 4-7). Thousands of Star Trek and science fiction fans will have the opportunity to see this legendary actor live on Friday and Saturday as he discusses his extensive acting experiences and how being a pop culture hero has shaped his life.

With a career spanning over five decades, William Shatner became a household name and cultural icon for his portrayal of Captain James T. Kirk, captain of the starship USS Enterprise, in the original Star Trek television series and in the first seven Star Trek films. In addition to his success with Star Trek, he received critical acclaim starring as the eccentric attorney Denny Crane on the television drama Boston Legal, receiving two Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award.  He has also written a series of science fiction novels.

Dragon*Con is North America's largest annual science fiction and popular arts convention. Held every Labor Day weekend in the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, the Hilton Atlanta, and the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel, it attracts over 30 thousand attendees with its multitude of celebrity guests, exhibits, art displays, merchandise, and collectibles. Convention events are scheduled around the clock, including guest speakers, concerts, panel discussions, presentations, workshops, and demonstrations.

William Shatner is the latest addition to the host of over 500 Dragon*Con 2009 celebrity guests, including Leonard Nimoy, Patrick Stewart, Malcolm McDowell, Terry Gilliam, Anthony Daniels, Lou Ferrigno, and Louise Fletcher.
