It’s difficult if not nearly impossible to find beer in a coffeeshop, unless of course you are at 248 E 100 South in Salt Lake. There you will find Nostalgia, a quaint café that claims to have “Salt Lake’s Best Damn Coffee” and a small selection of local beers.
In addition to coffee, which is also sold by the bag, and Wasatch and Squatters beer, which are only $1.50 on Thursdays, Nostalgia serves up deli sandwiches, daily soups and a variety of pastries. Soups include vegan specials like mulligatawny on Mondays, minestrone on Tuesdays, tomato basil on Wednesdays, lentil on Thursdays and chili on Fridays. Other kinds to sample are creamy chicken with wild rice and cream of asparagus. Check out the online menu for daily specials.
Nostalgia is a hotspot for students with free internet and plenty of tables, chairs and couch space. The quiet atmosphere is ideal for getting some work done.
Be sure to check out the local art hanging throughout the café, which changes on a regular basis. All pieces are for sale, and artists interested in showing their work should talk to Nostalgia staff for more info. The current artist page has bios and pictures of the current artwork on display, and past artists are also featured.
Nostalgia is open Mon-Fri 7 a.m. to midnight and Sat-Sun 8 a.m. to midnight.
