A sexually violent predator who had won release and was confined to a trailer adjacent to Donovan State Prison in Otay Mesa is now back behind bars.
Officers from the San Diego Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement task force took Matthew Hedge into Thursday night for violating terms and conditions of his release, District Attorney spokesman Paul Levikow said.
Hedge is not alleged to have committed any new crimes, Levikow said and there were no details immediately available about the violations of his supervised release.
Hedge was arrested without incident at his trailer outside the R.J. Donovan Correctional Facility and booked into county jail.
The specific basis for his revocation must be filed with the court by Monday, Levikow said, and a hearing will be set to determine whether he will be revoked from the outpatient supervision program and returned to the state hospital for further treatment.
Hedge's criminal history includes child molestation convictions involving four children in 1989. He was sentenced to 12 years in state prison. He was committed to the sexually violent predator treatment program in 1997.
In 2005, he was ordered into outpatient treatment, but his treatment was revoked within six weeks. Two years of continued in-hospital treatment led to the court granting his petition for outpatient treatment on October 1, 2008.
At that time, he was ordered placed in the community in a trailer the site near Donovan, but now Hedge currently resides in county jail.
