Reflecting the growing popularity of Brazilian spirits, Pernod Ricard produces an inexpensive cane-based spirit named Seagram's Smooth Brazilian Rum from Capuva Farm near Sao Paolo.

The light, refined product at 80 proof captures much of the flavor of leading cachaça spirits by blending cachaça from cane juice in column stills with light white rum from molasses in pot stills, resulting in a distinct cane flavor with notes of citrus and spice, followed by a smooth finish.
The retail price of $11.95 is well below most cachaça products imported in the U.S. market.
Seagram's Smooth Brazilian Rum, along with it's citrus and raspberry flavored versions, has the potential to ignite greater interest in the growing market for rum from Brazil among 24-39 year old consumers.
While many brands of cachaça from Brazil endeavor to distinguish themselves from molasses-based rum spirits, Seagram's embraces the label of Brazilian rum, offering an affordable, exotic tropical cane spirit which is decidedly accessible and affordable.
