Father and daughter enjoy a happy visit in Florida

Last month British father Karl Hindle filed in Florida's Fifth District Court of Appeal on behalf of his 7-year-old daughter E*, who was illegally abducted to the US by her mother Sheila Fuith in 2003.  The filing outlines Hindle's six year struggle, and how US State Department's Barbara Greig intervened every step of the way, preventing him from protecting his daughter.

Fuith was allowed to abduct E from the UK with a forged passport application.  The US govt's Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)-funded domestic violence attorneys, shelter personnel and others, along with Barbara Greig aided and abetted Fuith, even after several international investigations cleared Hindle of Fuith's false allegations of stalking and child abuse.  They did this even while E was listed as missing and endangered.  After seeing the evidence, Florida family court Judge Doyle told him, "Mr Hindle the Federal Government is screwing you."

Shortly after arriving in the States, E was nearly illegally given away by Fuith to the family of, and into the care of a convicted pedophile.  Hindle learned of this after hiring a private detective to find his daughter's whereabouts. When he notified authorities, his concerns were ignored.

E's mother tried to give her away to this man's family

Since being abducted, E has gone blind in one eye.  Hindle has repeatedly shown in family court that nine doctors recommended that an eye patch be worn for a few hours each day to save her sight.  Fuith has refused to provide this simple care, and still has sole custody of E.

Once wrongly arrested and jailed for a month by immigration officials at her order,  an understandably frustrated and angry Hindle wrote in an open letter on his blog to Greig in March, 2008:

"I suggest if you have any shred of decency that you take a seat in [boss] Kathy Ruckman's office and spill your sad, sorry lying guts and give her an opportunity to clean up your foul mess before I do."

A very difficult decision to come to, Hindle recently informed Volusia County family court Judge Rowe that he would no longer pursue visitation with E.  After a recent joyous visit with her in Florida, he felt it was no longer in E's best interest to be exposed to her daddy being physically threatened by her step-father.

Hindle also wants the coaching about things a 7-year-old should not be discussing to stop.  Fuith testified under oath on the phone with the family court judge and an official from the State Dept that she had lied about every allegation she filed against Hindle.  Yet she did it again right after this last visit.

In his letter Hindle told the judge, "the mother falsely claimed I had vaginally and auto-erotically sexually battered E and coached her in the making of statements and actions including the male masturbation motion being taught to our little girl."  Hindle recently told me, "When I read the sexual abuse investigation notes and what E was put through, I puked ... and I didn't make it to the bathroom."

Love overcomes lies and deceit

Hindle is just one of many victims of both genders who face corruption in family court, whether their children were abducted to, from or within the States.  He described the reunion of another father and the children he hadn't seen in a year.

"I watched from a distance as they were dropped off and his son first hugged his dad, but it was his daughter who made an impression on me - she just ran up to him and almost bowled him over - a far cry from the daughter who was supposed to never want to see him again. You cannot look at something like that and ignore the love involved - why that little girl had been denied contact with the dad she clearly loves and clearly missed is not sad, it is uncivilized, wholly avoidable and yet commonplace."

In noting his court filing he said, "At last the evidence of the State Department's involvement in abducting and hiding E is being considered outside of family court.  This isn't the last stop on this road because E isn't home yet and this is still in a State court - the Appeal court will take a look at what is going on but really only as far as the mother's behavior is concerned - I have to go to federal court to sort out the State Department now but this latest development has taken 6 years to get to and a major hurdle has been overcome."

With the David and Sean Goldman Brazilian abduction case in the news, and officials like Hillary Clinton championing Mr. Goldman's struggle, people assume that foreign children abducted into the U.S. are protected by the Hague convention. Yet, family court Judge Doyle said to Hindle, "In this county we're provincials.  We don't do the Hague Convention."  Many parents of children abducted into the States, and even within the States are asking for immediate Congressional hearings on human and family rights in regard to child custody.
