The Kansas City Royals traded infielder Tug Hulett to the Boston Red Sox yesterday for a player to be named or cash considerations.

Hulett spent most of the 2009 season playing for the Omaha Royals, where he put up solid numbers, including 11 HR and 53 RBI with a .291 AVG and .384 OBP in 99 games. Hulett saw limited playing time in Kansas City, going just 2-for-18 (.111) in 15 games.

Unfortunately for him, Royals general manager Dayton Moore has been busy this off season acquiring middle infielders or adding current Minor League infielders to the 40-man roster.

In the past month, the Royals acquired Chris Getz (2B) and they've added Jeff Bianchi (2B-SS), and Mario Lisson (2B) to the roster. They already had Alberto Callaspo (who had a break out season in Kansas City last year at the plate) and Willie Bloomquist (who can play nearly anywhere, but is naturally a second baseman), on the roster.

The Royals also have Irving Falu, another second baseman, in Omaha.
