The Kansas City Royals have announced the Omaha Royals coaching staff for the 2010 season. Manager Mike Jirschele will return for his eighth consecutive season; Doug Henry will be the new pitching coach (taking over for Tom Burgmeier); Tommy Gregg will return as the hitting coach; Drew Van Dam will return as the trainer.

Jirschele is on his second stint with the Omaha Royals. He’s managed the Royals for 13 seasons and has a career record of 895-873.

Henry was a roving pitching coach for Kansas City in 2009. He’s also been a pitching coach in Burlington (IA) and he spent three seasons coaching pitchers in the Braves organization. He pitched in the big leagues for 11 seasons and he finished his career with Kansas City in 2001.

Gregg returns for his second season with Omaha. He has previous coaching experience with the Braves.

Van Dam returns for his third season with Omaha. He too has experience with the Braves.

The Royals also announced that former player Brian Buchanan will manage Idaho Falls, a rookie level team.
