This past weekend I wandered into a “new” used bookstore in Georgetown, located at 109 W. 7th St. Ste. 115.
The store offers an eclectic feel, and the selections are not all what you expect: meaning there are a number of classic writers to be found, classic books, as well as those published by independent presses.
I spoke with one of the women there, and she informed me that another store will be opening in Salado as of November 1st.
The hardwood floors, coupled with the comfortable chairs, provides a relaxing environment to browse and read. Upstairs contains the children and young adult section, while downstairs covers most of the main categories: literary fiction, genre fiction, and popular non-fiction.
According to the website: “Dog Eared Books uses store credit to give you a chance to update your library. Bring used books and receive a percentage of the retail amount on a credit account. You can then use your accumulated credits to pay for up to half of your purchase.”
Their hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. till 7:00 p.m., Friday from 9:30 a.m. till 8:00 p.m., Saturday from 9:30 a.m. till 5:00 p.m., and Sunday from noon till 5:00 p.m.
