Best known for her role as Bella Swan in Stephenie Meyer's The Twilight Saga, Kristen Stewart's latest role brings with it a new rocker edge. Portraying Joan Jett in the indie film The Runaways, Stewart has transformed herself into Jett's image by cutting her trademark long hair and dying it black.
Last week, Stewart reportedly joined cast and crew members from The Runaways at the Santa Barbara County Fair, where Jett performed with her band, the Blackhearts. According to entertainmentwise.com, a source stated, "There were tons of people from the cast and crew at the show. And everyone had a blast."
Aside from describing the challenge of becoming the famous rocker Jett as an "insane concept," in a recent interview with Britain's The Daily Mail, Stewart explained the actions she implores to get into the role. Said Stewart, "I'm just listening to her music all the time. I'm trying to just make myself aware of the time period and what she was going through. It's one of the most immense responsibilities to play a real person. Her story's important. It's an incredibly triumphant feminist story really."
