Meb Keflezighi won the New York Marathon on Sunday and the media has gone wild--and for good reason! His 2:09:15 over the challenging 26.2 ran him past some of the top endurance athletes in the world and was good enough to end America's 27 year drought in New York. Since Sunday, Meb has been on a media frenzy and his name has solidly stood at the number six spot for online Yahoo! searches. Most notably, Meb Keflezighi was asked to appear on Late Night with David Letterman and give his very own Top Ten List: Thoughts That Go Through Your Mind When Running the New York City Marathon. See the video below!
Meb, thus far, has appeared on NBC's Today Show, David Letterman and CNN. Stephen Colbert from The Colbert Report has even made Meb the butt of his jokes, asking is Meb "truly American" enough for Meb's victory to be considered a win for the USA. Conan O'Brien also joked about Meb's American-ness, but Meb defended himself via humor by his gracious, gold-medal wearing appearance on David Letterman's show. Once the media madness dies down, Meb will most likely put more thought into his decision to run the 2010 Boston Marathon.
