WEST PALM BEACH, FL- At the National Poetry Slam, the St. Paul, Minnesota team known as “Soapboxing” took first place. The competition took place in West Palm Beach, Florida from August 4-8. Albuquerque’s slam team took second place. Other finalists include San Francisco’s City Slam team, which took third place, and New York City’s Nuyorican Slam team, which earned fourth place.

The event was a major success. The combination of West Palm Beach’s tropical climate, the union of a diverse body of poets, and unorthodox showcases made the 2009 National Poetry Slam an event to remember.
